Obtaining a Beneficiary Number from the Maliyah App
As part of the Ministry of Finance's efforts to create a partnership between the public and private sectors, the Ministry has launched a financial services electronic application for smart devices named ‘Maliyah’, which seeks to facilitate the implementation of transactions among all contractors (individuals and institutions) dealing with government entities to obtain a beneficiary number.
The online service enables all government contractors such as individuals, enterprises, and companies to obtain a beneficiary number through which their payments due for providing services or works to the government units shall be transferred. Through the Maliyah application, it is possible to apply for a new beneficiary number by following easy steps, starting from opening the application and choosing to register a commercial institution, and entering data, such as: Commercial registration number, legal form, total capital, and registration grade. The system then asks the user to verify the commercial registry to receive a verification code on their phone number to successfully complete the registration process. Finally, a text message with the username and password will be sent to the user.
The Maliyah app also offers other features that help to follow up on the workflow, such as: Viewing the beneficiary's transaction requests, adding a new beneficiary, modifying bank accounts, renewing of an existing beneficiary number, obtaining a commitment letter and following up on exchange bonds.
The Maliyah app is a step towards supporting the digital transformation sought by the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the Oman Vision 2040 plan, as well as strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, based on the mission of the Ministry of Finance, which is to explore government projects, financing methods and investment opportunities in light of the rapid changes in regional and global economy that support effective decision-making.
